MOU on Water Management

All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society (AISSMS) had organized Indo-German Colloquium on Water Management on 26 July 2013. Delegates from the Association of European Social Work, Education and Training (VESBE e.V.), Hennef, Institute for Sanitary Engineering, Water Quality and Solid Waste Management (ISWA), Stuttgart and Institute of Human factors and Technology Management (IAT), Stuttgart represented Germany in this Colloquium.

An MOU was signed on this occasion between AISSMS ITI, Boribhadak and VESBE & Stuttgart University. Capt Shivaji Mahadkar, Honorary Secretary, AISSMS on behalf of AISSMS and Mr Jurgen Lau on behalf of the German delegation signed the MoU. The other members of the German delegation were Ms Annika Meinecke, Dr Iosif Mariakakis and Ms Sylvia Wohlfarth-Botterman. Sh Dilip Umbarkar Honorary Treasurer, Sh Ajay Patil, Honorary Joint Secretary, Sh Ratnakar Jitkar, Member, AISSMS, Sh Sachin Kulkarni, Chief Executive Officer, AISSMS, Sh Rajkumar Kanade, Principal, AISSMS ITI Boribhdak, Dr S P Danao, Principal, AISSMS College of Engineering, Dr P B Mane, Principal, AISSMS IOIT and other Heads of the Institutions were present on this occasion.

Explaining the details of the MOU, Capt Shivaji Mahadkar said, “the objective of this collaboration is to create skilled and semi skilled human resource and make the students of professional education aware on Water Management and related issues like recycling and reuse of waste water through training. The demand for potable water will exceed in future. MoU will focus on addressing the two basic issues, lack of skilled manpower and improper maintenance of infrastructure. Joint framework on water management will be developed by involving researchers and industrialists under the agreement. Manpower will be trained by ITI through professional courses in Mechatronics, Industrial Mechanic, Electronics, Fitter/ Metal work and Gas water plumbing. German collaboration will help to avail benefits of expertise in this area. As per the MoU, funding of Rs 25 lakhs has been earmarked by VESBE to cover the expenses of training and related expenditure of staff members. In the first phase, six staff members will be trained at Stuttgart University, Germany. This is first such kind of MoU with any of Government/Private ITI in India”.

German delegation visited the ITI Boribhadak Campus on 26 July 2013 to inspect the infrastructure such as workshops, machinery, etc. They interacted with the staff members and the students during the visit. They were very much impressed with the quality of infrastructure and expressed complete satisfaction.

Instructors of AISSMS ITI are highly professional and very much trained and are committed to provide high quality, employment oriented and customer friendly technical training. As a result of this, AISSMS ITI Boribhadak has obtained ‘A’ grade and ranked number one in the Quality Inspection of Government for 9th consecutive year. It is also the first ITI to get the ISO 9001:2008 certification. It has also received ‘Bharatratna J R D Tata Snehabandh Puraskar’ for the year 2006 in the field of constructive, social and cultural activities through nationalistic vision.

All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society, Pune is headed by Shri Shahu Chhatrapati Maharaj of Kolhapur as the President. Yuvraj Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati is the Vice-President, Capt Shivaji Mahadkar is Honorary Secretary, Shri Dilip Umbarkar is Honorary Treasurer, Shri Malojiraje Chhatrapati is Chairman-Governing Council, Shri Ajay Patil is Honorary Joint Secretary and Shri P M Gaikwad is acting as the Chairman-Managing Committee.
